Sherrill, Thomas Russell
When F/O Thomas Russell Sherrill was on the staff of the R.C.A.F. flying school at Purtch, he met and married Miss Edythe Warner, who now resides at 17 Balfour Street. He was then serving as a staff pilot and had graduated from his course in June, 1942. The next year he received his commission as a pilot officer and in July was sent overseas. On
May 23, 1944, while on air operations over Dortmund, Germany, he was shot down by enemy fire. F/O Sherrill's home was in Columbus, S.C.
