Ladd, Frederick Llewellyn

P/O Frederick Llewellyn Ladd, the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. F. I. Ladd, 296 Rawdon St., had been overseas more than two years in the service of the R.C.A.F., when he was reported missing on June 13, 1944, after a raid on E-Boats at Ostend, Belgium. A year later, he was officially presumed dead. Born in Fort Frances, Ont., on July 25, 1921, Frederick lived here all his life and was well and favorably known. He attended King George School and the Collegiate Institute and Marlboro' United Church. After he had received his education, he was employed at the Universal Cooler Company of Canada, Ltd., until his enlistment in the R.C.A.F. on May 19, 1941. He was trained at Toronto, Macdonald and Burtch and graduated as a wireless air gunner from the Guelph School on February 12, 1942. Soon afterwards he sailed for England. The young airman was successful in his service and received his commission just three years after his enlistment.
