Wright, Haryy

F/O Harry Wright, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Wright, 10 Esther St., was reported missing after an operational flight over Germany when his plane crashed on October 25, 1944, at Buckholz, 10 miles southwest of Essen, Germany. Since the liberation of the continent it has been discovered from captured enemy documents that the crew was buried at Bredeney, near Essen. Born in Brantford, on October 16, 1914, F/O Wright attended King George and Alexandra Schools and graduated from the motor mechanics and machine shop course at the Collegiate Institute and Vocational School. He put his education to a practical purpose and earned his living as an inspector of refrigeration at the Universal Cooler Company of Canada, Ltd. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in August, 1942, and trained at Lachine and Toronto, graduating as a navigator from the Malton School. He was moved overseas in November, 1943. In peacetime he had a number of varied interests and these included reading, motorcycling and golfing, and following the last sport gained him a wide circle of friends who were enthusiasts of the game.
