Neil, Charles Raymond

Capt. Charles Raymond Neil, 309 Dalhousie Street, lost his life on October 24, 1944, fighting in the battle of Cassino, Italy, and was laid to rest there. Born September 26, 1913, in Hamilton, Capt. Neil moved at an early age to Simcoe and received his education there. After his marriage to Miss Marie Waters in Brantford on February

1, 1935, he took up residence in the city, commuting to his work at J.B. Jackson Limited, Simcoe. On September 21, 1939, he enlisted at London with the 8th New Brunswick Hussars and was trained there and at Camp Borden before going to Brockville where he took the officers' course and upon its completion was granted his commission. He moved overseas in July, 1942, and saw service in England and took part in the 38-day battle of

Sicily. Besides his widow, he is also mourned by a daughter, Gail.
