Gibbons, Alfred Thomas
Pte. Alfred Thomas Gibbons was reported missing after the Dieppe raid of August 19, 1942, and presumed dead for official purposes the following year. Born in Paris, January 25, 1921, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gibbons, 69 West River St., and received his education in the Sacred Heart and Paris High Schools and left the latter to join the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in the early months of the war. Alfred was an ardent sport fan and took a keen interest in collecting foreign currency. One brother, Harold, was with the R.C.A.F., and his father, a veteran of 1914-18, lost a leg in France.
