Tooker, Raymond Arthur

Gnr. Raymond Arthur Tooker, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Tooker, 23 Pearl St., was killed on December 6, 1943, near Foggia, Italy, and was temporarily buried in a military cemetery there until his removal to a permanent resting place. Enlisting with the 40th Battery, R.C.A., in Hamilton, September 4, 1939, Gnr. Tooker was transferred to the 7th Light Anti-Tank Battery, when he arrived in England in January 1940. After almost four years in England he was posted to Italy, reaching there on December 5, 1943, and he lost his life the next day when he was fatally injured in a motor accident. Born in Dundas, January 19, 1918, Gnr. Tooker attended school there and came to Brantford in 1937. He was employed at the Kitchen Overall and Shirt Company. He was a member of St. Jude's Anglican Church. To mourn him, besides his parents, is his widow, who now resides in Hamilton.
