Griffin, Alfred Harold
Pte. Alfred Harold Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Griffin, Glen Morris, lost his life at Villanova, Italy, on December 20, 1944, while in action with the Canadian Army. He was 21 years of age and had lived his entire life, until his enlistment in the Army on June 26, 1943, in the Glen. He attended the Glen Morris Public School and United Church, and took an active part in the community's activities. A popular young man, he was adept at sports and was the particularly promising as a hockey and baseball player. After his schooldays, he was employed at the Rutherford Coal Company, Galt. Enlisting in the Army, he had 11 months' training in Canada before he left for overseas. A large circle of friends mourn Pte. Griffin as a gallant soldier who reflected great credit on the community of Glen Morris.
