Hill, James George
Pte. James George Hill, youngest son of Mrs. Ethel Hill, 21 Palace St., enlisted in the Canadian Army in December, 1943. He trained at Camp Ipperwash until the following June and was then transferred overseas, and attached to the Essex Scottish Regiment. He went almost immediately into battle action and was killed in France on August 27, and lies buried at Elbeuf, on the River Seine. Born in Brantford, September 13, 1923, he attended Alexandra and Graham Bell Schools and was a member of Sydenham Street United Church. Like most young men of his age, he played baseball and was good at all active sports, particularly skating and swimming. After his school years, he was employed at the Terrace Hill Dairy. His army life was tragically brief.
