Pulham, Walter Donald

Sgt. Walter Donald Pulham, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Pulham, 20 Superior Street, was reported missing following air operations on March 22, 1944. He had been in England since the previous September and was flying as a rear gunner on his first flight with the 425th Alouette Squadron of the R.C.A.F. The young airman's career had begun in October, 1942, and his training had been taken at Toronto, Malton, Quebec City and Mont Joli, where he received his wings and graduated in August, 1943. Born in Brantford, April 21, 1924, Walter lived all his civilian life here. He had attended Grand

View School and St. James' Anglican Church, singing in the choir and going to the Sunday School. He continued to be interested in the good things in life and when he graduated from the boys' class at his own Sunday School, went on to the young men's class at Sydenham Street United Church. Later, he attended St. Jude's Church and the A.Y.P.A., with Miss Fern Pizzey, whom he married on June 19, 1943. Before his enlistment, he was in the aircraft division of the Cockshutt Plow Company, Ltd. Sgt. Pulham also enjoyed painting and sketching.
