Martin, Thomas Vernon
Pte. Thomas Vernon Martin was killed in action on October 25, 1943, in a battle in the Biferno River Valley, Italy. Born November 22, 1921, in Beggar, Sask., Thomas came to Paris with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Martin, at an early age. During his school years he was interested in all sports and in the latter years was a caddy at the Paris Golf Club and became a keen player. He was an employee of Penmans Limited for a short time before enlistment, with the 48th Highlanders, on March 4, 1940, and went overseas July of the same year. He served in the Sicilian and Italian campaigns and is buried near the scene of his death, south of Castropegnana, Italy.
