Wright, Robert George

Gnr. Robert George Wright, only son of Mrs. Alice Wright and the late George Robert Wright, 256 Marlboro St., was serving with the 12th Field Regiment, R.C.A., when he died of wounds received in action in France, August 14, 1944. Born in Mount Pleasant, January 18, 1921, he attended Major Ballachey, King George and Alexandra Schools and finally the Collegiate Institute and Vocational School. He then found employment at William Paterson Limited. He enlisted with the 69th Battery, R.C.A., soon after the Second Great War began. He trained at Hamilton, Petawawa and Sussex, N.B., and in the late summer of 1941 left for England, and, with 200 other Brantford boys, was transferred to the 11/69th Artillery, 12th Field Regiment. He was trained as a gunner and a signaller and proved apt at his work and efficient in his duties. He was married while overseas to Miss Hilda Beckett and they have a small daughter, Maureen. While at home he was a member of St. Jude's Church.
