Bean, Edward

Sgt. Edward Bean was killed in action in France, August 16, 1944. He enlisted with the Highland Light Infantry, following which he was an instructor at Brockville before going overseas. Three years later he obtained leave to Canada, and after several months returned to Europe where he joined the Regina Rifles and had been in action with this unit only three months when he was killed. Born in Paris in 1902, Sgt. Bean (better known as Ted), was educated in the Paris schools and attended St. James' Anglican Church. Although a foreman with the Gypsum, Lime and Alabastine, Ltd., for many years, he was an employee of the Nu-Wall Co., Toronto, when he enlisted. Sgt. Bean had three young children, Teddy, Tom and Olive, who now reside with his mother, Mrs.
