A great selection of Black History Month events for all ages are scheduled during February.
Black History Month Drop-In
February 3 - 26, Main Branch
Every week in February, a member of our Local History team will staff a display featuring Black history-focused materials, videos, and photographs. Drop by to check out the display or get an in-person orientation to Library materials on one of our two Black History Month topics: Black Canadians in Hockey and Notable Black Canadians.
Local History staff will be present at the Main Branch to answer your questions:
- Monday, February 3rd, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
- Friday, February 14th, 3 - 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, February 18th, 4 - 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, February 26th, 2 - 3 p.m.
Art and Soul with Nicole; Valentine Vibes
Thursday, February 13 at 6 p.m. at Main
Join Nicole for a unique Valentine-themed paint night. Nicole is a self-taught visual artist whose works in oil, acrylic, and watercolour reflect a unique Afro-Caribbean vibe. Attendees will receive a free canvas and paint at the workshop. Register for this program through the Event Calendar or by calling the Library.
Black History Month Author Visit with Chantal Gray

Join us for an early years program featuring Chantal Gray, author of What’s in Your Hair? Chantal will share her book, followed by activities to help kids explore their individuality. No registration is needed for this program.
