Video and photo equipment
We have professional photo scanners, slide scanners and VHS to DVD converters.
Plus, computers in the Digital Media Lab at our Main Branch are equipped with sound, image and video editing programs, including the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
GoPro Hero Cameras
Borrow a GoPro Hero 7 with a full kit of accessories to capture high definition videos. GoPro camera kits can be borrowed for seven days by members that are 18-years+ and have been a member in good standing for at least six months.
Photo Scanner
Scan black and white, colour photos and documents to digital format with the photo scanner in the Digital Media Lab at our Main Branch. The scanner can scan photos and documents up to 11 x 17 inches (28 x 43 cm). Users will need a USB stick or portable drive to save your digitized photos

Slide and Film Scanners
You can borrow both a slide scanner and a film scanner from the Main Branch. The slide scanner converts slides and photo negatives to digital format and the film scanner converts 8mm and Super 8mm films to digital format.
Users will need a SD (Secure Digital) card to save your digitized slides, negatives and 8mm films
VHS Tape Digitization
Two options are available to digitize your VHS tapes in the MakerSpace area at the Main Branch.
The VHS to DVD converter will convert tapes to a DVD. You will need to bring a DVD-R to save your digitized VHS tape

The VHS to MP4 converter will convert tapes directly to a MP4 video file that is saved to a USB drive or SD card. Because of the large size of video files, a USB drive or SD card of 16 GB or above is recommended.

The VHS-C Cassette Converter adapter allows you to play camcorder cassettes in a VHS recorder and transfer tapes to DVD or MP4.
Virtual Reality
Library cardholders ages 18-years and older can borrow an OculusGo Virtual Reality headset kit for one week. The kit includes the headset and a controller, charging cable and case. The headset requires the user to create an Oculus account and have wireless internet access.
Kits must be returned to a customer service desk at the Main Branch.
Adobe Creative Cloud
Edit and enhance digital images, videos and recordings with the Adobe Creative Cloud software available on the computers in our Digital Media Lab at the Main Branch.

The photo light box kit is perfect for shooting well-lit pictures of small objects using smartphones and cameras. You can adjust the lighting and it comes with several coloured backgrounds. Check it out for two weeks with your adult library card.
Green Screen Kits
Create amazing effects with your photos or videos with a green screen kit. The kit comes with a foldable green screen and mounting pole. Two kits are available to be borrowed for two weeks with an adult library card. Many instructional videos on green screen effects can be viewed for free with your library card through the Library's LinkedIn Learning database.
